Loss of the Reflective Effect on Trim
TRIM GARMENTS
Clothing Trim

WHAT IS THE PROBLEM WITH REFLECTIVE EFFECT ON TRIM?
WHAT DOES IT LOOK LIKE?
Trim may look frosty.
WHAT CAUSED IT?
Beads, zippers, buttons and trims are sometimes backed with a reflective finish in gold or silver. This creates a mirror-like effect, especially on clear beads or cuts. Sometimes these coatings are not resistant to dry-cleaning solvents, or to washing procedures. Any softening, loss, or removal of the coating alters the appearance of the cut.
Surface finishes on trim may also become affected by solvents, causing a dulling of the finish.
WHO IS RESPONSIBLE?
The manufacturer is responsible. Decorative trim attached to a garment must be resistant to the care procedures recommended on the label.
CAN IT BE PREVENTED?
The drycleaner has no control over damage of this type. The cleaner becomes obligated to process the garment according to the instructions on the care label.
IS THERE A REMEDY?
Unfortunately, no restoration is possible once the trim has been damaged.
